How to know when it’s time to speak with someone

You do not have to wait for a crisis to ask for support. A psychiatrist and a therapist offer different kinds of care, and understanding that difference can make the first step feel less uncertain.
Notice impact, not just intensity
Consider how long a difficulty has lasted and how much it affects sleep, work, study, relationships, appetite, or daily routines. Persistent changes are worth discussing even when you cannot name a single cause.
A therapist can help you process emotions, patterns, relationships, grief, and transitions. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can assess mental-health conditions and discuss treatment, including medication when appropriate.
What the first conversation is like
You may be asked what brings you in, what has changed, what support you already have, and what you hope will improve. You can ask about confidentiality, approach, credentials, and what happens next.
Urgent support
Celestia is not an emergency service. If you may harm yourself or someone else, or you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or a crisis helpline now and reach a trusted person nearby.
